Hotels will offer AAA discounts, veterans rates, government discounts, advance notice discounts, preferred rates, discounts for being lefthanded.... well you get the point. Basically it does not make a difference (it is less than 10% the total rate). So don't feel so special or like your getting a good deal when your really getting a luke warm deal.
And there is always one room in a hotel... But it is selling for 150-200% more than what the first guy booked his room at.
