Sprained ankles > Grabbing Ankles

How to cure sprained ankles:

First 48 hrs Elevate above heart and ice pack for 20 min every 2 hours, Use immobilization boot.
After 48 hours elevate foot with big toe write letters for 10 min 4 times. Also 2 tubs hot and ice, go 5 min in each doing to alphabet in hot then in cold flex foot hold for 8 sec repeat for 6 times, then alternate 30 sec hot and cold dunks for next 4 minutes. do hot/cold 2 more times a day reducing the alphabet 1 minute each time. When Normal do 3 minute balance drills like when brushing teeth.     

Or you can be like the crazy Scandanvians and on day 2 use a ice bucket 4-5 min do small squats/knee flexions, stretch leg for cramps.
